Disk error - need to open with a dock station

I need a solution

I have a customer whose PC is bad. He uses Windows 7. It seems there is a problem with windows files, so the PC does not finish the boot. I removed the disk and connected it to a dock station. The disk is recognized when I connect the dock station to a PC, but once it has the Symantec Endpoint Protection I do not have access to the files, that are encrypted. How can I unlock this disk in order to have access to the files?

Need to hit Alt+Ctrl+Del followed by enter key to enter my password

Here is what I'm trying to say.

1. A user is logged in to their Windows 7 computer.

2. The user locks their computer

3. Ideally user unlocks their computer by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Del and enter password directly. But in my case in 3rd step user has to either click on User icon or hit one more time enter to get the password screen after hitting Alt+Ctrl+Del.

Does any one has any idea why is this happening?

Note: Encrypted win SED 10.3.2 MP7  also tried with MP9 & 10 same issue

Two instances of Symantec Endpoint Protection installed

I need a solution

I have a Windows 2003 server with two instances of SEP installed.  In the Services console, one is named Symantec Endpoint Protection and the other Symantec.cloud Endpoint Protection.  I'm working on replacing the server within the next two weeks, but I'm battling low disk space.  I'm trying to use the "smc -stop" command to stop the services to allow me to do some cleanup, but it only stops the service named Symantec Endpoint Protection.  The executable path for each is

Symantec Endpoint Protection: "C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\EndpointProtectionAgent\12.1.2015.2015.105\Bin\ccSvcHst.exe" /s "Symantec Endpoint Protection" /m "C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\EndpointProtectionAgent\12.1.2015.2015.105\Bin\sms.dll" /prefetch:1

Symantec.cloud Endpoint Protection: "C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\AntiVirus\SEPAgent.exe"

I'm running the smc.exe executable from "C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\EndpointProtection Agent".  There is another smc.exe file in "C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\EndpointProtectionAgent\12.1.2015.2015.105\Bin", but using it doesn't stop either service. 

This server is on its last legs, so I'm trying to be gentle with it.  I understand that probably a full uninstall/reinstall would do the trick, but I'm trying to avoid that since the whole thing is going away soon.

SEP Firewall blocking connection with Exchange server

I need a solution

I'm currently having an issue with a users laptop. I can only connect to the Exchange server if the Network Threat Protection Firewall is disabled. When disabled, I can connect Outlook and ping the server. Once I turn it back on, nothing from either. I've tried creating a rule to allow all, but that didn't work. Has anyone seen this before?

Windows 10 - SEP - 2.1.6 MP1 (Not Compatible Message after Install)

Hello All,

We all are aware that SEP 12.1.6 RU6 MP1 with build 6318.6100 is compatible with Windows10 Operating System

Able to install the same on Windows. But while trying to do a Windows Update

Get a Message as "Uninstall this app because it isn't compatible with Windows10".

Even though SEP is working fine and update to date with definitions.

I would like to merge two policies together.  I have already looked at this

How to Migrate PGP desktop client 10.3 to SEE client.

I have machines with PGP client 10.3 with a PGP encryption server 3.3.

Now I am doing POC for SEE 11.0.1. I have generated a package for Drive encryption from SEE 11 server and copied onto the machine which has PGP desktop client installed. I executed the .msi file I am getting Symantec encryption is already installed.

Now I would like to know
1- How do I migrate the PGP desktop client to report it on SEE 11 server or to migrate to SEE client.
2- Do I need to generate a different client package for migration of PGP desktop clients 10.3 MP8.
3- Please provide the link for latest documents for SEE11 admin guide and migration documents.

Please advise.

I just came back from a week of vacation and have a "high priority" email asking what was the cause and how come there is a Norton advertisement when they are paying for a Symantec product.

Client is running the following:

Platform Version: 2.03.70.2614

Protection Version: nis-22.5.2.15

I am hoping someone can actually answer this question because I am tired and fed up with this kind of stupidity.

This came up months ago and I was promised that the issue was corrected - apparently not.

sep makes clients very slow

I need a solution

I am not sure why this is i fear that it may be a currupt sep rolled out to the clients. all the clients are core i5's 4gb ram and 500gb hdd's. not showing much if any utilization but are still INSANELY SLOW much slower than i would expect. *note we doe have a few i7 systems and core 2 systems

after my personal upgrade to win 10 i uninstalled sep and everything is working soooo much faster. any help or ideas would be great.


SEP 12.1.6 - Enable or Disable Features

Hi All,

          I have another question for you guys. I have been asked about enabling or diabling features in SEP. I have now upgraded to 12.1.6 MP1a. I know you can assign or change features in use on a client depending on which group it is in and if there is a Install package associated with it together with the list of features set to use with it. I have over 12,000 endpoint clients to deal with and quite a few have old 12.1 client installs. Can I just enable or disable the features with the SEPM without also installing the latest client package?

Our IT director has tasked me with testing out the Symantec Endpoint Security trial so that we can move away from our current Kaspersky management system.  I've downloaded the trial (which installs the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager) and installed it on our server.  The first thing I wanted to test was creating a deployment package so we can push out installations to end users from the server but I'm running into a problem.  A couple steps in it prompts to "select the computers to receive the client installation package" and pulls up a list of computers, but only for that physical site (it seems to be populating the list like it's pulling from Active Directory but I could be wrong.  It's definitely missing a good 80% of the computers on our entire network though).

First, what exactly is this trying to ask me to do?  I want to create the package on the server and be able to push to any computer that it picks up on the network.  Do I select the server, or do I need to select every single computer that populates on this step?

Secondly, when trying to search by IP range, the search continues for hours (it still hasn't finished)...and I'm only searching between 10.195.1.1 and 10.195.255.255.  Our Kaspersky can sniff the entire network on 2hr intervals and the sniff only takes about 30 minutes (and this includes ranges outside those previously listed like our 192.X.X.X and users connecting to our domains from home).  Any reason the network scan is so slow for Symantec or is there something I'm not noticing here?
